Strangers we are one to another, ye...Hello There!
Strangers we are one to another, yet family we are through Christ our Lord. I live on the island of Puerto Rico and am currently finishing my studies (major in Elementary Education)at the Puerto Rico Baptist College this school year. I heard of Caleb and his situation (as well as some of his ministry) through a friend of his that came to study here this semester. I want to tell you of a story God's wisdom and love. There was once a family that lived in a small neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. There were two young brothers in this family, the older brother was 2 1/2 years older than the younger. When the oldest son was 7 his grandpa died after several heartattacks at the age of 83, leaving a widowed grandmother whose health was rapidly decreasing. God used this event to draw the family together. When the oldest son was 9 the family moved in with the grandmother because she was unable to walk to the corner store and couldn't provide for herself. God used this event to move the family to the same location and prepare them for the move. When the older son was 11 the family moved to Puerto Rico because the doctors said the the grandmother wouldn't survive another winter. God used this event to bring the family to Puerto Rico and teach the two sons Spanish. Starting the school year in Puerto Rico was difficult because of the prejudice that some of the students had against English speaking Americans. One day, some students lured the younger son to a shady place behind the school and smacked him on the side of the head with a 2lb rock. This made an opening 2 1/2 inches in diameter in his skull (in front of the right temple)and left this area exposed to the environment. God used this event to bring the family to a Baptist school and church. It was at this church that the mother had accepted Christ, the following year, and gave her life to Him. One year later the son went to a Christian camp and accepted Christ at the age of 13. When the oldest son was 17 God brought him to the Puerto Rico Baptist College. God is using this to prepare him for the ministry. Next semester the oldest son will, by God's grace, graduate. This is a true story, because I am the oldest son. Caleb, I am here today writing to you to tell you that we are praying for you. Puerto Rico Baptist College is praying for you. Through the natural eyes one may view these events in life and only see tragedy, but through the eyes of a Christian trusting in God I can only see God's leading and opportunities. Opportunities to show His marvelous grace, mercy, love, and wisdom through those that are suffering affliction. Caleb, there are no coincidences, God makes no mistakes. He has a purpose for these events and the ones that will come. Be a light for Christ wherever you are, even in these dire times, for there may be a soul waiting, wanting to hear about Jesus and His sacrifice. We are praying for you. I am praying for you.
- GodspeedChester Ortizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14095753741411135858noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8737852036076359935.post-60055116445861728172008-10-22T16:16:00.000-05:002008-10-22T16:16:00.000-05:00keep it up. It is easy for me to imagine now that ...keep it up. It is easy for me to imagine now that time has passed that Caleb is doing alright. I know in my head what the updates mean but knowing that Caleb is acting himself and digging in takes away any fear. I still am blessed by my first thoughts of the day being about Caleb and knowing that he's asleep resting and healing at that moment. I love you all.ChefErichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11647121565399368955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8737852036076359935.post-11725998806030341282008-10-22T15:55:00.000-05:002008-10-22T15:55:00.000-05:00What a wonderful mother Caleb has!
